=Pixie-Queen, you da (wo)MAN!

Sun Apr 23, 2006, 12:00 PM
Not only did I just recieve a package of dA prints from =pixie-queen, but I also know what I'm buying tomorrow when my money arrives in my Paypal account. Well, the first thing I'm doing is sending ~cpukiller copies of "Jealous In Love" and "Naked". But then I'm buying the rest of the "shape Shifter" series from Ella's shop page [link] So what did she send me? Well, take a look for yourself :)

I know that you can't see the striking detail and vibrant colors of the prints, but I still wanted to show these mofos off and say a big thank-you to =pixie-queen for being my print-buddy and a most inspirational friend on deviantART. Thanks, Ella.

Hunting For Prints

Wed Apr 19, 2006, 5:15 AM
[edit: Hello, blow me print-haters.]

hello, I am doing what the title says: hunting for prints. I am going to do a big ol thumbnail feature of friends' work next journal. until then...

I like to search the shop page and narrow down the category to get very specific results. Top favorites is usually the best way to search, as searching by date yields unpredictable results. Apparently, =pixie-queen has sent me something from my wishlist (i will buy every part of the shape-shifter series i do not have sent to me), so I can't buy anything from it until I get her package. As you can see, and this is not intentional, but I seem to be attracted the most to pictures with women in them. Not the porn stuff but nice colorful female figures.

Anyhow, if any of you have come across any rare gems that I might not have seen or would like to suggest one of your own, or own favorite prints for me to take a look at, let me know please.

Until then, Check out what has become my absolute favorite series anywhere: The Shape-Shifter series by =pixie-queen

The order of these is part 1, 3, and then 2. I just thought they looked coo that way. Buy them TODAY dammit, they're hot.

I am Devwatching Galleries Again

Mon Apr 10, 2006, 9:13 AM
This is a notice to anyone whose gallery I've been watching (chances are you watch mine too as it works out):

For a few months my PC was broken and I had accumulated about 4000 devwatch messages. I tried to look at some and realized it wasn't happening so I stopped watching all galleries at one point in time while at another PC (to stop them from accumulating further), and have now finished erasing them all and I have just started watching the galleries of all the users on my Devwatch list, and will now be commenting on everything that comes out of them. I just wanted you all to know this because you might have noticed that I have been absent for a while. I am not anymore. :)

"My God" Contest Winners

Mon Aug 29, 2005, 4:28 PM
When I started this contest, I didn't expect it to get the response that it has, but I'm glad that it did. There were 84 qualified entries and about 300 votes. Despite my decision about the legitimacy of some of the votes, my choices for the winners of this contest still came from the voters top 10 as planned.

Based on the overall body of the composition, and with the theme in mind, these are my choices for the winners of the "My God" contest:

:star: 1st Place:

"My god -contest-" by *AzureFeather [link]

This piece was one of my favorite from the beginning. Not only does it question the very theme of the contest with the caption at the bottom, but it does so simply, and with a beautiful color arrangement (I always fall for the red, blue, yellow, green thing). About 12 hours and some good thought was put into making this work of vector art. Judging from the 'strictly business' title she might not have expected so much attention to fall on this one, But maybe she'll choose another one now. If you'd like to know more about the image, *AzureFeather has written a good explaination of it all in the description. Congratgulations on 1st place, *AzureFeather. Enjoy your 1-year dA subscription!

:star: 2nd Place:

"The Forsaken" by *chrizcruz [link]

This airbrushing masterpiece was not only the first entry I recieved, but also first place in the votes and legitimately so. A sensual and provocative image which tells a story of the artist's journey to understanding his own faith. Thanks for making such a quality image the first entry in my contest, setting a standard for things to come. 2nd place goes to you, *chrizcruz. Enjoy your 6-month dA subscription!

:star: 3rd Place:

"Trash God" by *TheTrashCaretaker [link]

"Trash God" is one of those less traditional takes on the contest theme that I was hoping for. *TheTrashCaretaker used both traditional and modern mediums together to create something that is fun, fantastic, and whimsical wrapped in a 'creepy but cute' package that looks like something straight out of a freaky manga or even better, a drug-induced hallucination. I love it! 3rd place goes to this lovely work from *TheTrashCaretaker. Enjoy your 3-month dA subscription!

...And that about wraps it up. There will be more contests in the future, so stay in touch! Thank you to all who participated and voted to make this one of the best contests I've seen yet, and the best contest that I've furnished prizes for.
